Waiting On The Lord

Waiting On The Lord

Oftentimes, waiting is one of the hardest things we can do, but trusting God’s timing can strengthen our faith and bring peace. Why is waiting so difficult? One reason is that we are not in control. Someone else controls the outcome. They will determine what happens next. Whether you are waiting on a phone call for results or tests, waiting for a delivery, waiting for a flight, waiting to make life-altering decisions, and the list goes on. Waiting is exhausting and sometimes excruciating. Your thoughts are racing a mile a minute as you try to figure it all out. Well, at least mine does. I’m praying, asking God to show me what He wants and what His plan is, but at the same time, He is asking me to wait and be still.

When God asks us to wait on Him, it is because He loves us deeply and wants us to trust Him. He knows what’s best. He has a good reason for delaying in giving us something. It is in His timing, and it is precise. During this season of waiting, we can become anxious, tired, and frustrated, wanting to take control of situations ourselves and get ahead of God. If we are not careful, we can let the enemy pull us off track, swaying us to the right and left. God gently reminds us, Hey, I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. Keep your eyes focused on Me. Look to Me, not the obstacles around you, and know that, in your weariness, you can persevere and gain a deeper understanding of His purpose and plan.

Waiting is a time for being in His presence. It is an opportunity to reflect on who God is and understand what He wants you to learn as you wait and trust. Like the eagle, you can soar high above your circumstances by staying close to Him. In this safe place, you will gain His strength, knowledge, guidance, and protection.

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31) NKJV
